Saber Interactive and Anshar Studios have dropped a brand-new gameplay trailer for Painkiller, the reimagining of the cult-classic action shooter, during the Horror Game Awards’ Halloween Showcase.
The footage, narrated by a demon straight out of Purgatory, puts the spotlight squarely on the game’s co-op mayhem - reminding players that in Painkiller, friends who slay together, stay together.
The game launches October 21, 2025, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Check out the trailer and additional details below:
Co-Op Carnage in Purgatory
The latest trailer shows squads of up to three players tearing through waves of grotesque demons with an arsenal of devastating weapons, including mini-guns, shotguns, crossbows, and other infernal firepower. Players battle across eerie gothic environments, uncover secrets, and even square off against towering bosses - including a massive Nephilim encounter teased at the end of the footage.
It does what a Painkiller trailer is supposed to do - showcase all the carnage and action-packed gameplay that the game has to offer. I have to say that I'm becoming increasingly confident that Painkiller could be one of the games to watch in the last couple of months of 2025.
