Bandai Namco officially announced One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 at the Anime Expo 2019. The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch sometime in 2020. Bandai Namco promise many stories and arcs from the anime.
One Piece fans rejoice. Bandai Namco have officially announced the fourth game in the One Piece: Pirate Warriors series. During the Play Anime! panel at Anime Expo 2019, the publisher and the developers Omega Force confirmed that One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is in active development for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
As you may know, One Piece: Pirate Warriors series are based on Koei Tecmo's Warriors series. It's a hack and slash in which players fight hordes of enemies using various skills and combo attacks. Pirate Warriors 4 should play the same way with a couple of new additions, similar to how each previous instalment added fresh features to the series.
The fourth instalment will also cover many stories and arcs from One Piece anime. Bandai Namco promised and specifically highlighted the Whole Cake Island arc. This is of course in line with previous Pirate Warriors instalments but different from the last game in One Piece franchise - World Seeker, which had a completely new story.
Both Bandai Namco and Omega Force seem pretty excited about the project. "One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is a great way for both new and long time-fans to jump into the One Piece world," Bandai Namco Entertainment America Brand Manager said.
If you're wondering when is the game coming out, well, it won't be anytime soon as the release date is set for 2020. If you're One Piece fan and Pirate Warriors 4 got you all excited, you can play the recently released open-world title World Seeker until the announced Pirate Warriors 4 arrives.
Also, it will be interesting to see if Bandai Namco plan to release the game on next-gen consoles as the release date for both Sony's and Microsoft's new hardware is 2020.
