Hello Games have announced a new major update for No Man's Sky, titled Beyond, which is scheduled for release at some point during summer 2019. According to Sean Murray, it used to be three updates, rolled into one major free release.

No Man's Sky is probably best known for its disastrous launch back in 2016 that was probably on par with the more recent Fallout 76 and Anthem. Hello Games committed to fixing the game and eventually delivering a worthy product which resulted in several updates, with NEXT being a large scale on in 2018 and now Beyond which is scheduled for summer 2019.

Sean Murray, the founder of Hello Games, the community by announcing No Man's Sky: Beyond which apparently used to be planned as three updates but eventually the team decided to release them as one bigger package.

The first component of the Beyond update will be No Man's Sky Online which will include "radical" social and multiplayer experience that will apparently encourage people to play together. According to Murray, this multiplayer experience will not require a subscription or microtransactions and will be free for all existing No Man's Sky players.

Apparently, Hello Games had a different vision for multiplayer with the release of NEXT and the new update will work towards getting the players there through the changes. Murray didn't reveal much more information about the online component, only vaguely saying that the team will reveal more information on the upcoming components once they can be precise, which will apparently happen in the next few weeks.

According to Murray, Beyond will be the most ambitious chapter in No Man's Sky's saga so far but will definitely not be the last as Hello Games intend to support the game "for the foreseeable future". In the end, he cited the accolades No Man's Sky received through various nominations recently and reassured players once again that the support for the game will continue.
