Hello Games' sci-fi survival No Man's Sky is getting VR support this summer in the second part of free Beyond update. It's coming to PlayStation VR and Steam VR and it's not a separate mode, instead, it will include the entire game.
No Man's Sky had many ups and downs since its release back in 2016. You may remember a lot of broken promises, radio silence from the developers and many negative reviews on Steam but, in the last year, the devs have successfully weathered the storm with new expansions and features.
The latest announcement will hopefully, inject more life into Hello Game's sci-fi exploration sim. Sometime in Summer 2019, No Man's Sky will get VR support as part of its earlier announced Beyond update.
No Man's Sky VR will arrive to PlayStation VR and Steam VR on PC, and it won't be just a separate mode with a couple of features. Instead, Hello Games are delivering a full VR experience to the entire game, meaning that you'll get to do everything you usually do in No Man's Sky, but in VR.
"We are in love with everything sci-fi. Virtual reality feels like a science fiction become real, and has always seemed like a perfect fit for this futuristic game of ours," Hello Games founder Sean Murray said in his blog post.
VR support will come as a free update, but to celebrate the release, Hello Games will also release an exclusive retail version of No Man's Sky on PlayStation 4. This physical edition will come with the base game, VR support, NEXT, The Abyss and every update so far, including Beyond.
Hello Games expect that No Man's Sky becomes the most owned VR title when released and according to Murray, the devs are "working so hard to live up to the expectations" that this upcoming update is creating.
As for the third and final chapter in No Man's Sky most ambitious update - Beyond, more details should be coming soon, and Hello Games plan to talk about it as soon as they can.
