Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled Back N. Time Grand Prix is the name of the next event in Beenox's kart racer. Back N. Time will introduce a fresh batch of content including a new map and other items but will also add microtransactions.
We've been enjoying Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled ever since the game launched earlier this year. It's safe to say that the progression system is perfectly balanced and rewards those who play the game regularly. Players can earn Wumpa coins and spend them on new characters, karts, stickers and other items without reaching for their wallets.
However, that's about to change in the upcoming Back N. Time Grand Prix which is scheduled to start this Friday, 02 August 2019 at 7:00 AM PDT / 2:00 PM UTC. In their latest blog post, Activision detailed what exactly can players expect from the new event and while there's a ton of new content, Back N. Time will also introduce real-money microtransactions.
According to Activision, this won't change the way you obtain Wumpa coins, it's simply for those who want to purchase additional coins, instead of earning them trough races.
"Starting in early August, players will have the option to purchase Wumpa Coin bundles from their game console stores to supplement the Coins they earn by playing. This option won’t change the game’s core mechanics – players will still earn Wumpa Coins by playing the game in any mode, just as before," it's written in the post.
As for the content in the Back N. Time Grand Prix, there's a new track named Prehistoric Playground and as the name suggests, it's all about giant dinosaurs, caves with paintings and geysers.
The Back N. Time Grand Prix will bring new rewards that players can earn by completing challenges and filling their Nitro Gauge. New items include the Nostalginator and Mammoth Karts, the Dashing Fake Crash skin, and Cave Painting stickers.
Baby T. will also make his debut in CTR as a Grand Prix reward character for completing the Bronze Tier of the Nitro Gauge, with a Fake Baby T. skin being the final item in the Gold Tier.
