Speculations about a possible Splinter Cell teaser or announcement during E3 2018 are getting stronger by the day. Ubisoft's latest headgear additions in Rainbow Six Siege have reinforced these theories and sparked more theorycrafting fire.

We wrote about Ubisoft's plans for 2018 back in February when there were still in the works. Out guesses were The Division 2 and Watchdogs 3 with an off-chance that Splinter Cell will take one of the spots. The Division 2 was two weeks later.

The remaining AAA title is still under wraps but ever since Sam Fisher joined Ghosts for a mission in Bolivia, fans have been restless with theories. Most of these theories come from reddit, and when pictures of the new SAS operator headgear popped up, fan theories flared up due to Night Vision devices shown on the operators.

Arsh_Nanda  the new vanity items and the top comment is currently a theory that this gear is a Splinter Cell teaser since since it features Night Vision vanity on the British operators and was released so close to Sam Fisher's cameo in Ghost Recon Wildlands.

This theory alone doesn't really carry enough weight to warrant a hype train but it does look suspicious that Ubisoft got Michael Ironside to play Sam Fisher again. It wouldn't make much sense to bring an iconic voice back just for a cameo in a DLC for Wildlands. This spells out overkill on resources invested for such a minute promotion.

Sam is also deployed on another mission immediately, following the end of the crossover mission in Wildlands. Linda, or as Ghosts came to know her - Karen Bowman, briefs Sam on a possible "Empty Quiver" which is a term for a stolen nuclear device in US Army lingo. This hints at future Splinter Cell adventures.

But wait, there's more! Remember the rather sad reference Sam made about Solid Snake? Karen tells him that Snake has retired which leaves Sam in shock for a moment, prompting his realisation that "it's only him". This could be a direct message from Ubisoft that unlike Snake, Sam isn't retired and will be coming back for more action.
