EA are reportedly set to reveal the next Need for Speed game sometime in July 2022.

A brand new Need for Speed game is coming later this year and the official reveal could be happening as soon as next month according to the info from reliable insider Tom Henderson.

Henderson and reliable Jeff Grubb also claim that the new Need for Speed would feature anime-like elements with flames and stuff flying off cars when drifting and going fast.

Of course, this is yet to be officially confirmed since we haven't seen the game yet.

Today, we have some new rumours regarding Need for Speed 2022, which state that the anime-like elements won't be in the game after all.

The info comes from Twitter leaker Shaun Weber, who also states the game is set for a mid-July reveal but the reported anime elements were apparently just placeholders for the general wind effects and similar VFX.

Since Weber is not quite reliable and trustworthy as Grubb and Henderson, take the info with a grain of salt, until we get more details about the game.

Need for Speed franchise always utilised realistic visual style so the reported anime-like style for certain elements is indeed surprising.

It's not necessarily bad, quite the contrary, it could look awesome and breathe a new life into the franchise but let's wait and see how the game actually looks before making any conclusions.

The new Need for Speed is developed by Criterion and should be coming to PC, Xbox Series X|S and PS5.
