EA plan to release a brand new Need for Speed game later this year in November for current-gen consoles and PC.
Three years after Need for Speed: Heat , the last instalment in the series, EA plan to release another Need for Speed game this Autumn. According to reliable industry insider Jeff Grubb, a new Need for Speed game is coming in November 2022 to Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and presumably PC.
Interestingly, there will be no last-gen version, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners will be left behind, which should become a trend among many big publishers moving forward.
Grubb also revealed that EA's new Need for Speed could be set in Miami, which is a bit odd since Need for Speed: Heat was set in the Magic City too. Apparently, the game will have Need for Speed Underground vibes, which should be music to Need for Speed fans' ears.
Other details about the game are not known at this point but we expect to hear more and see the first gameplay sometime this summer.
This year's Need for Speed will be the 25th main instalment in the racing series, which started way back in 1994. Since Most Wanted in 2005, Need for Speed EA wasn't been able to return the series to its glory days despite their efforts.
Heat was close, scoring around 75 on Metacritic so hopefully, Criterion can build on that and finally hit the nail on the head and deliver a memorable Need for Speed game.
