A credible leak suggests that Warhorse Studios may bring a next-gen version of the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance as early as early 2026, giving newcomers the perfect chance to experience the first game without outdated limitations.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 stands out as one of the best games of the year, hands down. Few titles deliver such an immersive mediaeval RPG experience, with carefully balanced combat, a gripping story, and absolutely stunning visuals that will most certainly take your breath away from the very beginning of this adventure.

What many tend to forget is that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 builds upon the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance, a remarkable game in its own right that laid the groundwork for this masterpiece. While the story in KCD2 is easy enough to follow even if you’ve never touched the first game, playing KCD1 beforehand will give you a deeper understanding and make the experience all the more rewarding.

And that’s where the challenge comes in. As impressive as the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance was, going back to it after experiencing the sequel feels like a significant step down, making it tough to adjust. Warhorse Studios is fully aware of this issue, which is why they announced earlier this summer that a modernised version of the game, with full support for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and today’s PCs, could be on the way.

Of course, up until now this has mostly been speculation and rumour. However, a well-connected leaker on Reddit (someone with reliable ties with Warhorse Studios) claims that, based on the information and sources he has inside the studio, the next-gen update for Kingdom Come: Deliverance could arrive much sooner than expected. According to him, we might see it as early as the first quarter of 2026, sometime between January and April.

Naturally, this would be fantastic news for anyone who hasn’t yet played the first game and, like me (guilty as charged), would prefer to experience it without the constant and unnecessary comparisons—such as how the sequel is superior or which mechanics don’t hold up anymore. If these rumours prove true, the Kingdom Come series is almost certain to grow even more in popularity and attract a whole new wave of fans.
