Publisher NC America has secured the publishing rights to independent studio emptyvessel's cyberpunk shooter DEFECT. Under the terms of the deal, NC America will publish the game across several platforms at a date yet to be announced.
DEFECT is a tactical first-person shooter from a team including developers who've worked on franchises like DOOM, Call of Duty and The Last of Us.
A New Partnership to Support Development
emptyvessel, an independent studio founded in 2023, announced its partnership with publisher NC America. The studio is headed by CEO Emanuel Palalic and COO Garrett Young, while claiming their team of developers has worked on over ten AAA titles combined.
“Our goal is to have enough resources and publishing support to really expand upon DEFECT’s multiplayer systems while developing a single-player experience that players will enjoy.” said Emanuel Palalic, CEO of emptyvessel. “Team North Californian is helping us ensure we have the appropriate foundations in place so we can do just that.”
Cyberpunk Shooter With PvP and Single-Player Modes
DEFECT will take players to a dystopian cyberpunk city where powerful AI called “THE SYSTEM” rules with an iron fist. Gangs and corrupt police run rampant through the streets as players look to survive.
Game modes:
- 4v4v4v4 PvP squad battles
- Objective-based multiplayer gameplay
- Single-player training mode and offline experience
- High-tech weapons and gadgets
- Close-quarters battles in urban settings
