Armatus launches January 7, 2027, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC, with the dark roguelite also coming to Game Pass.

Armatus was finally given a release date today. At Gamescom 2026, the dark roguelite shooter revealed another new trailer confirming the January 7, 2027 release date on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Additionally, it will launch day-and-date on Game Pass.

The Gamescom trailer dives deeper into the combat of Armatus. Players will take on hordes of demons in its bleak vision of Paris via fast-paced aggression. There are melee weapons, powerful firearms, and a handful of supernatural abilities that players can swap between.

Armatus is being developed by Counterplay Games and published by Fictions. It’s a solo roguelite experience that takes place in the twisted remnants of post-apocalyptic Paris. Demonic forces have invaded the city, and it’s up to players to take control of a supernatural warrior looking for answers at the Sunless Gate.

Armatus takes place in a post-apocalyptic Paris that has been overrun by demonic invaders. Over time, civilization has crumbled to leave behind a dark wasteland.

Players take control of a warrior of an ancient order. Armed with powerful supernatural abilities and an arsenal that grows throughout their journey, players will traverse the game’s diseased streets in search of the Sunless Gate.

Levels are randomly generated, creating new rooms, enemies, and loot to find each time you play. This is part of Armatus’ roguelite gameplay loop. If players die, they are taken back to the gate but can keep the abilities they earned that playthrough.

Gunplay is a huge focus of Armatus. Players will be able to mix and match different weapons and unlock new abilities based on celestial powers. There are also upgrades players can keep between runs to further enhance their builds.

Not only does this arsenal contain powerful firearms, but players can utilize their special supernatural attacks. This gives players a lot of flexibility when experimenting with different weapon loadouts as demons get more difficult.
