In the latest post on Reddit, Respawn Entertainment confirmed that more than 355,000 cheaters on PC have been banned from Apex Legends. The devs confirmed that they are scaling up their anti-cheat team and are working on a report feature.
Respawn Entertainment made it clear that using third party software to gain an unfair advantage over other players in Apex Legends won't be tolerated and will result in an automatic ban if the proof is there.
In their latest update on Reddit, the developer shed some light on their ongoing battle against cheaters who started to appear soon after the game's successful launch.
According to Respawn, more than 355,000 PC players have been banned from Apex Legends through Easy Anti Cheat software since 04 February 2019.
Respawn also revealed future plans that should make their fight against cheaters a bit easier. One of the additions will be a report feature on PC which players can use to quickly report the cheaters. The report will then go directly to Easy Anti Cheat that will analyse the in-game actions for unusual behaviour.
Furthermore, Respawn are expanding their anti-cheat team so they "have more dedicated resources". They are also working directly with anti-cheat experts, both within and outside of EA.
The developers are also well aware of the "character select spammers" who spam the chat with ID numbers for messenger app that sells cheating software.
While the work on these issues is currently ongoing, Respawn said that they won't talk about their strategy so the offenders don't have the time to build workarounds before they implement the changes.
While the post was mainly about the cheaters and anti-cheat measures, Respawn also mentioned the PC crashing issue which should be fixed soon. To tackle this, AMD and Respawn will be working together to improve stability and performance.
One of the most requested features at the moment is the reconnect option but Respawn don't have plans to add one anytime soon. They claim it opens a lot of risk for players to abuse it and that it's better to spend time and resources on fixing the stability issues so this feature isn't necessary at all.
There's also a small mention of slow server performance at the start of the match issue, but the devs are still in the dark with this one and are narrowing down potential causes.
