It's happening. Bungie's Marathon Server Slam is now live, and downloads are already up across all platforms. If you've been waiting to get your hands on Marathon for the first time, your moment has arrived.
What is the Marathon Server Slam?
The Server Slam is a free, limited-time public test for Bungie's upcoming extraction shooter. It's designed to stress-test the game's servers ahead of launch, giving Bungie real data on how the infrastructure holds up under the weight of a large player base all piling in at once. Think of it as a glorified stress test that you get to play for free.
How long does the Server Slam run?
The event runs from Thursday, 26 February at 10 AM PT / 7 PM CET through to Monday, 2 March at 10 AM PT / 7 PM CET - giving you just under five days to get stuck in before the servers go dark.
How to download Marathon Server Slam
Simple. Head to your platform of choice - PlayStation Store, Steam, or Xbox - search for "Marathon Server Slam" and download it. No pre-order required, no early access needed. It's available to everyone right now.
What to expect when you log in
Bungie has been upfront that the first few hours may be bumpy. Login queues are likely as the initial wave of players floods in, disconnects and error codes may pop up, and Bungie may bring servers down for emergency maintenance if needed. Entirely par for the course with a server stress test — stick with it and things should smooth out.
