100 Thieves are an American eSports team that have started its competitive history in various games, and now a League of Legends tournament organized officially by Riot Games cannot be imagined without them.
However, it seems like the era of big names parting with their organizations is booming this year, with multiple players and coaches getting replaced.
This time, Papa Smithy is leaving 100 Thieves with the end of his contract, which many have hoped they would see renewed.
No such luck though, as Pap Smithy explains that his goals and the goals of 100 Thieves no longer align, and their cooperation must come to a close:
"It was clear that the shared vision of the kind of League of Legends program we wanted to build together in 2019 no longer fit the goals and aspirations of 100T for 2023."
He goes on to explain that the thing he is most proud of is, in fact, the depth of the program they've managed to build. but it seems that the trend of complete restructuring present in NA is influencing 100 Thieves as well.
Papa Smithy joined 100 thieves in 2019, leaving his position as a caster in the LCK behind, to enmark on a new adventure. All we can hope is that his next one proves even more exciting!
