Following the brilliant decision to cut support for academy teams by the organisations in the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS), the players revolved both in NACL and LCS.
LCS players eventually went through the Players Association and decided to stage a walkout at the start of the summer split, in what was previously described as an overwhelming vote.
With the actual numbers known, Riot Games appears to have changed course and stood in the players' corner instead.
According to TGH sources, over 90 per cent of the players voted yes on the walkout, which obviously gave LCSPA better leverage in future negotiations with LCS teams.
As it appears, Riot Games figured out which way the wind is blowing and they announced that the LCS summer split start will be moved by two weeks and issued a statement about the situation.
After declining all the propositions made by LCSPA, Riot Games noted that if the teams don't come to a satisfactory solution with the players, LCS will be cancelled for the year entirely.
This would bring more issues for both Riot and the league itself. Their places in Worlds 2023 would have to be redistributed while LCS would suffer even more than it already is as interest for the league's broadcast drops constantly.
