This year has been nothing but one scandal after another in the eSports world of League of Legends, and very few of those were caused by Riot Games. Though, there have been misogyny lawsuits directed their way as well.
One of the big ones has seen Carlos "Ocelote" Rodriguez celebrating a G2 victory with Andrew Tate, one of the most notorious people on social media.
Amid the outrage of fans, G2 have suspended Ocelote from his position for 8 weeks, at first. But now it seems, after losing their Valorant franchise opportunity, and under threat of losing sponsors, Ocelote must say goodbye to G2 for good.
On the official Twitter G2 account, it has been announced that Ocelote will be leaving the organization completely, and from the announcement itself, we can see that they are distancing themselves from Carlos' actions.
On the other hand, Carlos himself has released a goodbye video, saying goodbye to all of his fans as well as what might have been his legacy, G2 Esports.
After all, it was Carlos who was one of the founders of G2 and who started the organization that is now a giant of European Esports. With the direction the organization was taking last year, though, it might be for the best to have a clean break. Who knows, perhaps Ocelote is not done making impacts in the community.
