Riot Games confirms Shyvana’s 2026 VGU in League of Legends, featuring updated visuals, gameplay changes, and a Season 1 Demacia release window.

Years overdue, Shyvana will finally be getting a visual and gameplay overhaul in League of Legends. Riot has officially announced that the Shyvana rework will be coming in Season 1 of 2026.

While Shyvana has been a popular jungler since her release, her graphics and kit have aged poorly compared to other champions. But now she’s getting a brand new VGU, Riot plans to update her to modern standards. Here’s everything we know so far.

Shyvana’s Rework Was First Teased Years Ago

Shyvana debuted all the way back in 2011. She immediately found success as a champion with simple hybrid melee gameplay and a dragon transforming mechanic.

As years went by, champions came with much more intricate kits and higher-resolution models. Shyvana soon started to look outdated. Fans first heard about Shyvana’s rework in 2021. There have been several delays since, but Riot has assured players that Shyvana’s rework is officially slated for 2026.

What to Expect From Shyvana’s VGU

Being that this is a VGU, Shyvana will be getting visual upgrades to both her standing models and her in-game animations.Things we know are being upgraded:

  • Her Standing Model as a Human and Dragon
  • Animations
  • Visuals on Abilities
  • Visual clarity in fights

Her dragon form is going to look a lot more defined. There also seems to be a better relationship between her human form and dragon form.

Gameplay Updates

Riot haven't shown her abilities yet, but the preview showcased seems like it flows between forms more smoothly, and her abilities connect harder.Ability specifics we know of:

  • Her Fury mechanic is still a key focal point to her form changing
  • She's received tweaks to her abilities to make them feel more reactive
  • She has more obvious hitboxes/visuals
  • She may gain additional mechanics to enhance her versatility

Overall it looks like they want to keep her feel as a bruiser jungler, but give her toolkit that feels more in line with modern champions. If they can balance her properly, we could see Shyvana rise to be a champion that is picked more often in game.

Release Date

Shyvana's rework will be featured during the 2026 season that is Demacia focused. She should arrive during the season with Act II.
