Riot Games has announced another one of its pre-Season 2026 patches, and Patch 25.23 looks like a juicy one. This late-season patch will set the stage for everything that’s coming next in League of Legends, so be sure to play a few rounds and get familiar with the new systems and the upcoming meta before Season 2026 launches.
Patch 25.23 is a major update, with several experimental gameplay changes, an entirely new Darkin champion, and some changes to item and system performance that could all have a big impact on the meta.
The Jungle role is getting the biggest focus, with Riot continuing its trend of reworking and adjusting Jungle dynamics to make room for more champion diversity. Expect a few experimental champion changes as Riot boosts monster damage on several off-meta Junglers, paving the way for some new faces in the role.

New Champion – Zaahen, the Darkin Juggernaut
It’s time to add another Darkin legend to the roster, with Riot introducing Zaahen, a new Fighter/Bruiser who can go in any lane but is primarily designed for the Top Lane.
Zaahen brings a very aggressive, self-healing kit to the table with a powerful revival mechanic that make him feel very similar to Aatrox, giving players another high-impact duelist to learn and master.
Zaahen’s Abilities
- Passive – Cultivation of War: Zaahen earns stacks of Determination on basic attacks and abilities, gaining bonus Attack Damage with each stack. When he has full stacks, he will revive himself instead of dying.
- Q – The Darkin Glaive: Deals bonus damage on a single target, then heals himself. Can be recast on target to strike with bonus damage and knock them up.
- W – Dreaded Return: Pokes in a line and damages and pulls all enemies in range.
- E – Aureate Rush: Dash forward and slash around him.
- R – Grim Deliverance: Become unstoppable, leap into the air and slam down in a large AoE area, dealing damage in all directions. Deals AoE damage to enemies around him and heals himself based on damage dealt.
