The meta of Summoner Spells is a weird one. After all, even with a variety of choices, players always go for the 4 most popular ones. That is, until some get too OP to ignore.
Summoner spells are abilities that players can use for their champions in League of Legends , and are chosen before every match. And, even with Riot Games trying to make them all meta, some rise to prominence more than others.
in patch 12.14, Riot Games are nerfing the Summoner Spells that have benefited a lot from the Durability Update , specifically, the Smite and Exhaust.
Due to its low cooldown, Smite is getting its damage reduction lowered from 20% to 10%, whereas Exhaust's damage reduction is suffering a 5% reduction, from 40% to 35%.
"With champions being more durable, the damage reduction aspect of Challenging Smite isn’t as necessary as it once was. Now that we’re giving junglers a bit more early game influence with the objective changes we’re looking to pull a bit of power out of this summoner spell", say the developers.
They go on to explain that "Exhaust has become a common summoner spell for marksmen recently, making it a bit too hard to all in and kill enchanter supports in the bot lane. We’re toning down its power to make it a bit less exhausting to play against."

This is just one of many changes Riot Games are making in their nerfs to durability, which appears to be sorely needed after the Durability buffs, which have overshot the mark in many ways. We just hope they don't overdo it once again and revert the durability changes completely.
