Sony has released Update 9.00 for the PlayStation 5 system, which includes a variety of new quality of life features such as the ability to control the power indicator light, as well as updates to the DualSense controller's audio and microphone.
For many players, one of the biggest issues they faced was related to Sony's DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers and the audio quality they provide. Following this upgrade, the controller speakers can now emit higher-volume sound, which Sony claims will allow players to hear in-game audio and voice chat dialogue more clearly.
Furthermore, the microphone's input quality has increased thanks to the implementation of a new AI machine learning model. Background noise, such as game music or button clicking, is now better filtered out, resulting in a better voice chat experience.

PlayStation 5 Update 9.00 Patch Notes
Controllers:
- The device software of the DualSense and DualSense Edge wireless controllers has been updated to improve their sound features.
- The controller speakers now offer increased volume, enhancing the clarity of in-game sounds and voice chat audio.
- A new AI machine-learning model has been implemented on these controllers to increase the quality of the mic input. By reducing background noise from game sounds and button presses, voice chat will be more enjoyable.
- The PS5's power indicator brightness can now be changed.
- Go to Settings > System > Beep and Light, and then select Brightness.
Screen Share and Party Features:
- Viewers of Share Screen can engage with the host's gaming by using emoji reactions.
- Viewers can use a pointer or ping to indicate a specific position on the gameplay screen.
- Viewers can now also send emoji reactions.
- This feature is available when the host turns on Viewer Interactions in the Share Screen settings.
Miscellaneous:
- The System's performance and stability have been improved
- The messages and usability on some screens have been updated
- The device software of the DualSense and DualSense Edge wireless controllers, PlayStation VR2 headset, PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers, and Access controller have been updated to improve stability
- Players can now use Unicode 15.1 emoji in messages
Sony is rumoured to be preparing an announcement for the PS5 Pro Console later this year, as the corporation has indicated that the current model is nearing the end of its life cycle. So if you are planning to get a PS5, we would suggest you to wait for the Pro model.
