After years of managing escaped raptors and watching fences fail at the worst possible moment, Jurassic World Evolution 3 is finally giving us full control over the land itself. Frontier Developments has unveiled the Island Generator, a new sandbox tool that lets players design and share completely custom islands when the game launches on October 21 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
The generator lets you sculpt everything from the shape of your island to its terrain, water, and forest density. Want a peaceful tropical retreat? Go for it. Want a chain of tiny islands connected by fragile monorails? Also possible, though probably a terrible idea once the storms roll in.
Every island has a unique Island DNA code, meaning you can share your creation with others or recreate someone else’s prehistoric paradise (or disaster zone). Players can also upload their parks to the Frontier Workshop, ensuring there’ll be no shortage of chaotic new maps to explore.
Game director Andy Fletcher says this is a feature the team has wanted to implement for years, and the new tech in Jurassic World Evolution 3 finally makes it possible (hooray for the engine upgrade).
Of course, all the creative control in the world won’t stop a T. rex from doing T. rex things. But at least when chaos hits, you’ll only have yourself to blame.
