Team Asobi's teased update would be just another seasonal expansion building off the title’s great history of free updates. Astro Bot has had a consistent stream of DLC and content updates since launch in September 2024. Team Asobi has kept the game fresh with new levels and challenges that honor and expand on Astro Bot’s adventure in gaming history.
These include Special Bots as collectibles in each area, which have been based on popular PlayStation characters and franchises over the years.The hint posted by the studio is consistent with the tradition of dropping seasonal updates that they have kept up over the last year. The first content update after the game launched was The Stellar Speedway Galaxy, released in October 2024.
This update focused on speed-based platforming and introduced five new levels and ten new Special Bots.The Winter Wonder Level came later in December, introducing a holiday wonderland setting full of themed collectibles and character cameos such as Croc, Tomba, and Rayman.
What to Expect From the Halloween Update
Team Asobi released the Vicious Void Galaxy at the beginning of 2025. This brought a set of five levels with a focus on particularly difficult platforming. The update was divided into two parts over the course of February to July 2025, with the new content being released in phases.
This content added a Time Attack Mode with leaderboards and a set of ten new bots inspired by Final Fantasy and Ghost of Yōtei. Given the studio’s history of content updates for Astro Bot, it’s reasonable to expect that a seasonal event will be coming in October.
The teaser’s implication of spooky goodness is a good sign that October will see a return to this seasonal format, possibly with a Halloween twist. We can expect to see new levels themed around haunted environments, perhaps with additional challenges and collectibles related to the holiday.
The tone and timing of the tease seem to indicate that such an update would be coming in the days ahead before the holiday, as the studio has been doing monthly to quarterly updates so far.
