Nintendo might be gearing up to announce a new Donkey Kong crossover title at the upcoming E3 event. The future game would be a spiritual successor to Donkey Kong Jungle Beat.
Nintendo will be showcasing a bunch of their upcoming projects at this year's E3 , and a recent leak suggests that one of the announcements might be Donkey Kong-related.
The leak
According to the newly-minted Reddit user u/throwawayfornintendo , their source was part of Bandai Namco's marketing team and left the company late last year.
The source claims that Nintendo had been looking for other IP to crossover with, after the success they enjoyed with Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Cadence of Hyrule.
The former Bandai Namco marketing team employee maintains that Nintendo's next project will be Donkey Kong x Taiko no Tatsujin: Jungle Jams, with a reveal coming at this year's E3.
The game
Donkey Kong x Taiko no Tatsujin: Jungle Jams would serve as a spiritual sequel to the Donkey Kong Jungle Beat rhythm game. The 00's title featured platforming segments, random encounters and boss battles whose style resembles that of the games in Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythmic Adventure Pack.
Switch Hardware
If the leak is genuine, Nintendo will advertise motion controls as the preferred way to play their upcoming Donkey Kong x Taiko no Tatsujin: Jungle Jams crossover. The game will also accommodate standard controls as well.
The Reddit post also makes mention of two new amiibo that should launch with the game. One will depict Donkey Kong himself with some bongos, and the other will be of Don Wada and Katsu Wada together.
Both amiibo will serve the same purpose: unlocking a new mode. The source claims that the additional amiibo mode will be a Time Attack.
