Three new game modes include King of the Hill, Land Grab and mini battle royale-like mode Last Spartan Standing.

Halo developer 343 Industries have today shared additional details regarding the new game modes that will be coming to Halo Infinite with Season 2. A total of three brand new game modes will be available along with some additional variants, featuring a nice mix of returning favourites and some new stuff.

The three game modes that will launch with Season 2 include King of the Hill, Land Grab and Last Spartan Standing.

King of the Hill is self-explanatory but 343 have added a small twist to it. Two teams battle it out to control a hill that spawns on the map. When a player enters the hill uncontested it begins capturing it, earning one point per second into a capture bar. Once the team's capture bar is full, they score one point and a new hill spawns.

In Land Grab, there are three neutral zones around the map that players must capture to win. When one zone is captured, it becomes locked and gives the team one point. The first team to reach 11 points wins.

Last Spartan Standing is the highlight mode of the new Season in Halo Infinite. It's a free for all mode for 12 players and it's played on Big Team Battle maps with confined loadout and five available respawns.

Once you run out of respawns, you are out of the match and can only spectate or leave the match.

Each kill means you can upgrade to a different weapon. The match ends when there is just one Spartan left standing.

As for the game mode variations, we have three of those - Ninja Slayer, Vampireball and Rocket Repulsors.

In Ninja Slayer players got infinite ammo Energy Swords and Grappleshot loadouts, with only Grappleshots and Power Equipment on-map. So basically, it's a mode where players get to swing around a hit each other with swords.

Vampireball is Oddball variation that does not nert the Skull carrier, instead, the Skull is a one hit kill and has 50 per cent Shield Vampirism, which, if you score a kill with the Skull at full shields, say, bleeds into an Overshield.

Rocket Repulsors gives you infinite ammo Rocket Launchers and Repulsor loadouts, with only Repulsors and Power Equipment on-map, allowing players to create a proper carnage by shooting and deflecting rockets at each other.

Halo Infinite Season 2 launches on May 3, 2022.
