Even though the game formerly known as H1Z1: Just Survive has never really left Steam's Early Acceess, Daybreak Games have announced that the game's servers will be shutting down permanently come October 2018. And players don't seem happy.

What we now know as Just Survive started as H1Z1, splitting off into H1Z1: King of the Hill and H1Z1: Just Survive. Daybreak Games dropped the latter's H1Z1 moniker about a year ago, trying to differentiate it from the main game, but that obviously didn't work.

In their Steam statement, Daybreak said that with everything that's gone down, "the current population of the game makes it untenable to maintain". The exact date Just Survive shuts down is Wednesday, 24 October 2018, 11am PT.

The development team says they've "learned a great deal during its development", seeing as how the game dates back to H1Z1's Early Access beginnings from 2015. They thanked the community for participating and promised they'll "do better and learn from every experience along the way."

Unfortunately for TheyBreak Games, it appears like they're already breaking their promise. Shutting down a game on a pretty short notice and leaving Just Survive's players empty-handed like that seems would seem like an "experience" one should "learn from", even though the company doesn't think so.

H1Z1's splitting and renaming manoeuvres have only managed to shuffle and reshuffle its playerbase, which was never a smart move to begin with. Now however, one of the groups just lost the lottery they never knew they played and they're not happy. The announcement's comment section is filling up fast with users that are disgruntled, to put it as mildly as the thesaurus will allow me.

What Daybreak Games didn't say in the announcement is that they've constantly shifted resources towards H1Z1: King of the Hill and so wasn't just lady luck that brought about Just Survive's downfall. They've done a similar thing to Planetside 2 when H1Z1 launched, even though the former's playerbase is incredibly passionate and persists to this day.

To make matters worse, H1Z1 hasn't been doing great neither, at least until it launched on PlayStation 4 as . It seems to be though so I guess TheyBreak Games have that going for them.
