ArenaNet rolled out a balance patch that nerfed some of the most annoying classes in Guild Wars 2 PvP, such as the Holosmith Engineers and Thieves who are generally hard to hit.
Holosmiths have been the bane of Guild Wars 2 players who wanted to enjoy PvP and it remains to be seen if they will be able to continue their reign of terror after the latest set of nerfs.
Freeze Grenade and Poison Grenade will deal significantly less damage in PvP now as their power coefficient per grenade has gone from 0.375 down to 0.2. Poison stacks per grenades are also down from 3 to 1.
Grenade Barrage and Lesser Grenade Barrage scaling has gone down by 25 per cent, per grenade, also in PvP only. Explosive Entrance's coefficient is down from 1.25 to 0.9. Furthermore, Bomb will have lower scaling in WvW only.
These nerfs will be welcomed by anyone who disliked playing against Holosmiths but unfortunately, these nerfs affect the entire Engineer class and it remains to be seen if a future update will compensate other specs in some way.
Meanwhile, Thieves will need to manage their resources better if they are looking to escape a sticky situation. Infiltrator's Arrow will eat up 8 Initiative as opposed to 6 so their mobility is going down in both PvP and WvW.
Signet of Agility will restore 25 Endurance instead of 50 in PvP so dodging will also need to be managed better and Thieves will have to take a blow every now and then.
Consume Plasma, the skill gained from stealing, will be altered in both PvP and WvW to offer these Boons:
- Stability and Resistance - 1 second,
- Quickness - 1.5 seconds,
- Aegis, Alacrity and Protection - 2 seconds
- Regeneration, Retaliation and Vigor - 5 seconds
- Fury, Might, Swiftness - 10 seconds
