ArenaNet announced they will slowly roll the old Living World content out in Guild Wars 2 in order to avoid story gaps for players who didn't experience it all those years ago.
Living World content in Guild Wars 2 often bridges the gaps in the story between expansions and missing out on it is pretty significant as it's required to grasp the full context of what's going on.
Therefore, whenever a character goes through the vanilla GW2 story, they are thrown into the future where they've suddenly met a bunch of new friends and players are unaware where these characters came from. That's because the roots of the Dragon's Watch were established during Living World Season 1, which has been missing in the game for years and the only way to know roughly what happened there is to talk to an NPC in Lion's Arch.
On March 22, 2022, ArenaNet announced they will return Living World Season 1 to the game permanently and we will be able to play through the content without having to read up on things in order to connect the dots. More importantly, the newer players will get a better sense of the significance of the Aetherblades, who appeared in the latest expansion, End of Dragons.
LW Season 1 will return across five episodes which will arrive over the course of 2022, with the first one dropping on April 19, followed by Episode 2 on May 24.
Each of the episodes will bring along new Strike challenge modes for those wishing for more repeatable content with exclusive rewards.
