PlayStation's Jim Ryan shared some exciting news today but there's also one that will disappoint players. The upcoming racing game Gran Turismo 7 has been delayed to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gran Turismo 7, which was supposed to be one of many 2021 exclusive releases for PlayStation 5 will not be coming this year. PlayStation head Jim Ryan confirmed the game has been delayed to 2022 due to the global pandemic impacting its development.

Ryan revealed the disappointing news in a GQ interview where he shared some additional details on PlayStation VR for the next-gen, which is also slated to arrive in 2022.

"GT7 has been impacted by Covid-related production challenges and therefore will shift from 2021 to 2022," he told GQ in a short official statement. "With the ongoing pandemic, it's a dynamic and changing situation and some critical aspects of game production have been slowed over the past several months. We'll share more specifics on GT7's release date when available."

With this news, many PlayStation fans are concerned that more PlayStation exclusive could suffer the same fate as Gran Turismo 7. A major candidate for a delay is God of War but until Sony officially confirm this, take it just speculation, nothing more.

PlayStation 5's first year was supposed to be jam-packed with major releases but with each passing month, it seems 2021 is going to be a slow year when it comes to first-party releases.
