Polyphony Digital and Sony have announced the release date and details for Gran Turismo 7 update 1.61. Coming on July 25, 2025, at 10 PM PT, the latest update will feature a trio of new cars in the popular racing simulator, confirming the latest set of car silhouettes teased earlier by series creator Kazunori Yamauchi.
The mysterious car silhouettes seen from Yamauchi and his team were a point of hot speculation in the Gran Turismo community, but the full patch notes have since confirmed the full additions for update 1.61.
Update 1.61 will mark another consistent monthly update from GT7 for the summer, with a continued focus on new cars that span across different automotive eras and themes. This update’s additions to the game’s long roster will include a mix of motorsport stalwarts, cutting-edge electric performance, and nostalgic hot-hatches from the 1990s.
Cars in Update 1.61
Toyota GT-One (TS020)
The GT-One is an all-time iconic Le Mans prototype, known for its distinctive low ride height, wide rear wing, and massive downforce it provides on endurance courses.
It sports a clean swept-back design and short roofline for even more low ride height advantage. Its addition to GT7 will add some more variety to the selection of high-speed, aero-heavy race cars in the game.
Honda Civic Type R (EK9)
The Civic Type R is a modern hot hatch that enjoys a cult following within the enthusiast community for its lightweight chassis and ultra-high-revving VTEC engine.
The EK9 is the very first Civic Type R ever made, originating from the early-1990s Japanese domestic market (JDM).
The EK9 also comes with its fair share of nostalgia as it’s a legendary ‘90s hot hatch with a massive following, an interesting omission for GT7 given its focus on modern compact sports cars and Japanese domestic market vehicles.
Tesla Model Y
This is a new, all-electric car for Gran Turismo 7, coming to the expanding list of EVs already found in the game. The Model Y is a compact, crossover electric vehicle by Tesla, the cutting-edge electric vehicle (EV) company.
The Model Y will bring a practical, contemporary and futuristic EV to the game with its strong acceleration and potential tuning options and upgrades.
Details on Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.61
GT7 update 1.61 will focus solely on these three car additions, but like past updates to the game it could also include additional patch notes on quality of life tweaks, balancing or UI/UI interface improvements.
Gran Turismo 7 update 1.61 is coming on July 25, 2025, at 10 PM PT.
GT7 is available for PS4 and PS5. The update will be a free download for all players.
