According to the latest rumours, God of War 2018, God of War 3 and Final Fantasy VII Remake have been updated with some amount of added PlayStation 5 support.
It looks like Sony could be adding some kind of PlayStation 5 support to their PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 exclusives. God of War 3, God of War 2018 and Final Fantasy 7 Remake have been updated with some amount of PS5 support, but at the moment it is unclear what this support actually means, according to video game modder and hacker Lance McDonald.
"God of War 3 Remastered, God of War (2018) and Final Fantasy 7 Remake have now been updated with some amount of added PS5 support. However, there's no way to know what amount of "support" this actually is until we get hands-on," he wrote on Twitter.
These patches sometimes fix bugs as McDonald points out but it's also possible that we see some bigger improvements for these games on PlayStation 5 like unlocked frame-rate or better resolution. If these games are getting these improvements, then Sony will probably talk about this before PlayStation 5 officially launches next month.
PlayStation fans are pretty excited to hear about these update, which is not surprising. One of the games that many of them would love to play again on PS5 and 60 FPS is FromSoftware's souls-like Bloodborne. If you played the game on PlayStation 4, you probably know that the frame rate wasn't acceptable in certain boss fights and a potential PS5 patch could improve this.
PlayStation 5 is officially releasing on November 12, 2020.
