Games Done Quick have unveiled the final version of the speed running schedule for the summer part of the event that will take place from 24 June to 01 July 2018. This round of the charity will raise money for Doctors Without Borders.
Summer part of Games Done Quick 2018 is going to have over 150 speed runs, ranging from retro classics, over younger indie games to full fledged AAA titles. One of the takeaways is probably the return of Super Metroid, which was a regular for GDQ incarnations until it became a no show at last winter's GDQ event.
Unlike the game's previous appearances, this time it will not be a main attraction and it will air during Tuesday evening on 26 June 2018, along with Metroid: Samus Returns and Metroid: Zero Mission. Other highlights will include a Cuphead run by The Mexican Runner who participated in GDQ earlier this year as well, with his blindfolded tunnel run in Battletoads.
Dark Souls will appear once again, with catalyst trying to run through the game in under 1:35:00 while killing all the bosses in the process. Semanari will be trying to complete Divinity: The Original Sin 2 in under 40 minutes. These two events will be happening on Saturday, 30 June 2018.
After a Pokemon Yellow/Red run by MeGotsThis there will be a Star Wars marathon with ysalamiri running Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II and Star Wars Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith back to back. Indy will conclude the Star Wars block with a run through Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
Sunday, 01 July 2018 will be the final day of the event and it will feature a rather long run by puwexil. I know I called the Star Wars block a marathon but puwexil beat all those three games together in length, as his Final Fantasy VI glitchless run has an estimated completion time of under six hours and 55 minutes.
SGDQ 2018's venue will be DoubleTree Hilton Bloomington-Minneapolis Hotel, Bloomington, Minneapolis. In order to attend the event, you will need to register on the GDQ site.
