Frostpunk 2 was announced by 11 bit studios, with a premise that offers a little bit of light in the darkness of the everlasting winter.
Frostpunk showed us a bleak future should the climate go haywire and it appears that our efforts in the game paid off as the canon is now that the city we directed has managed to survive. Not only that, the humanity managed to push forward as Frostpunk 2 will see the remnants of humanity killing each other over precious resources.
Speaking of which, the main fuel in the first Frostpunk may have been coal but the sequel is modernizing a bit since we will be mostly chasing oil this time around. The whole marketing campaign is also focused on snow, blood and oil so you pretty much get the idea what we will be doing in the game and what we will be chasing.
That said, it appears some of the game's mechanics will involve traditionalists in the city we are managing since not everyone will welcome this new direction. It remains to be seen whether people are resistant to conflict with other communities, chasing oil instead of coal or a combination of both. Given the bleak setting of the Frostpunk games, it's probably both.
