Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in. Epic have rolled out the 5.30 update to Fortnite, adding a portable rift grenade Rift-To-Go and a new limited time mode called Score Royale, which is a proper name for what it entails.

First things first though. Rift-To-Go is a portable rift that deploys immediately on usage and teleports you back into the sky, where you have to endure the drop once more, so calling it a grenade was probably misleading on my behalf.

Having said that, I'd love to see the 'nade mechanics implemented at some point and I'm sure that proficient Fortnite grenadiers will agree. Think about it - a carefully placed and timed Rift-To-Go grenade and you could teleport half, or even an entire enemy squad back into Fortnite skies. If you're quick on your feet and have a good enough render distance, you're soon into duck hunting territory.

Rift-To-Go remains active for 10 seconds, allowing your teammates to follow up on your master plan and it comes in stacks of 1 and 2, with epic rarity. They can be found in chests, vending machines, supply drops and loot llamas.

As for Fortnite's new mode Score Royale LTM, the name itself hints at the fact that Epic will be scoring just about anything you do, other than firing the game up. Early storm circles are bigger and slower, so you'll have plenty of time to improve your score. Beware though as Epic compensated by making late game storms much quicker.

  • Winning Score (Solo) - 2000
  • Winning Score (Duos) - 3000
  • Winning Score (Squads) - 4500
  • Use an Apple/Mushroom - 10
  • Open an Ammo Box - 25
  • Open a Llama - 50
  • Open a Supply Drop - 100
  • Eliminate an Enemy - 100
  • Open a Treasure Chest - 50
  • Find a Bronze Coin - 30
  • Find a Silver Coin - 50
  • Find a Gold Coin - 100

Fortnite's Playground LTM has been updated as well with a bunch of new ATKs, more ramps and some rifts across the map and Epic suggests scouting them from hilltops.

Also included is the winner of Fortnite's Blockbuster Contest, who really did an exquisite cinematic job in Epic's game. Even if you dont' see it here, you will on Risky Reels, which will be playing it out in the open, most likely until the end of Season 5.

Epic were quick so server downtime is already over at the time of writing. Just when I thought I was out...
