Apparently, the first mode coming to the new island is called Party Royale, and the description indicates it's more of a place to chill out with friends, rather than indulge in combat.
"Party Royale: Welcome to the Party! Leave your weapons and mats behind and hang out with friends, play games, perfect your skydive and more. The party’s just getting started", says the description data mined by prominent Fortnite miner going by Twitter handle ShiinaBR.
As you can see below, the map is significantly smaller than Fortnite's main map, which should work perfectly for what seems to be its purpose.
All the signs you can see sprinkled around the island are referring to different mini-games you can play. Papaya, as it's presumably called, will let you compete with friends in different activities like water balloons and paint launchers.
Another data miner called FireMonkey on Twitter posted the following list of activities in Fortnite: Party Royale:

If you've been following earlier Fortnite leaks, you know the theme was water and now you know what Epic have in mind. Seeing as how Fortnite has been evolving into a social platform as much as a game, everything seems in place for a new hangout spot in the popular battle royale.
