I must admit that hearing about Fortnite: Battle Royale and Horizon: Zero Dawn both getting board game adaptations drew a smile to my face for more than one reason. Hasbro and Fortnite went for Monopoly. Horizon: Zero Dawn went full mental.
We'll start with the easy one, since I don't believe there's a soul left on this god forsaken planet who hasn't played Monopoly. Well, Hasbro have jumped aboard the Fortnite train as well, with a special edition of Monopoly just for Epic.
Instead of standard properties, Fortnite Monopoly has in-game locations like Tilted Towers and Lucky Landing. Hasbro seem to have done away with hotels though and replaced them with walls, which is pretty clever.
Horizon: Zero Dawn - The Board Game, on the other hand, is a much bigger beast and Steamforged Games really went all out. Note that the game is still in development and/or pending licenses from Guerilla Games and Sony but c'mon - who's going to say no to this?
Aloy's board game is currently on Kickstarter, where it actually overshot its goal of $202,317 by more than five times. Yep, with one million in the bag already and still 15 more days to go, people have obviously gone bonkers for Horizon: Zero Dawn's tabletop edition.
The basic pledge may sound saucy at £100/$130, but you'll be getting 120+ miniatures that already outweigh the investment by more than double. Add to that the cards, boards and pure love by Steamworks Games and we're talking about an absolute steal.
Unlike Horizon: Zero Dawn for PS4 though, the tabletop version is a co-op game where one player losing means a loss for everyone. We're sure this isn't in line with Sony's policies but who cares, as long as they sign the license.
Obviously, the game is pretty complex so you're interested in learning more, you can check out Steamforged Games' full playthrough in the video above or check out more screenshots in the gallery below. If you're planning on buying it, Horizon: Zero Dawn - The Board Game's Kickstarter can be found .
