Epic Games have rolled out Fortnite's new update 6.30, which brings a new limited time mode called Food Fight, a new mounted turret trap, removal of the much-maligned glider redeploy feature and of course, a bunch of other tweaks and fixes.

You won't be fighting with food though - Food Fight LTM has two teams fighting to kill the other team's restaurant mascots. Under-construction Durrr Burger and Pizza Pit restaurants each contain their respective giant mascot heads inside, leaving it to players to coordinate attack with defence.

Epic threw in an impassable barrier between the teams that lasts the first "several minutes", with the trailer suggesting we're looking at five minutes before the fighting starts. In that time, Fortnite players are left to reinforce their defensive fast-food position.

If killed, players respawn after seven seconds, with their inventory intact, dropping "a percentage of their ammo upon elimination, as well as 30/30/60 wood/stone/metal materials." At the start of a Food Fight match, the game will spawn special red supply drops, containing weapons, ammo and other goodies.

Harvesting yields double the resources, while building resources on the ground are up from 20 to 50 per piece. Note that Fortnite's Food Fight has no explosive weapons and items, so as to make the fight more interesting.

As for Fortnite's new trap, the mounted turret, it's a floor-only trap that once placed, can be used by anyone, regardless of the team they're in. It comes with unlimited ammo, with Epic balancing it out with the overheating mechanic.

Note that the only way to destroy mounted turrets is to shoot them directly or destroy their structural support. The exact piece the turret is mounted on remains invulnerable though, so no funny stuff.

Fortnite is also getting Pop-Up Cups, which are Epic's tournaments for testing temporary LTMs. Scavenger Pop-Up Cup is a solo tournament tests some gameplay adjustments, like material limits reduced to 500, increasing harvesting rate by 40 per cent and players gaining 50 health when eliminating opponents.

Among other notable changes is pickaxe damage to players, which is up from 10 to 20, additional momentum smoothing for grapplers moving in vehicles, double the quadcrasher spawn rate and more.
