Frostpunk's road map is going according to plan as 11 bits studios have released the 1.1.0 update that includes the new Survivor mode for those hardcore or masochistic enough. The update also brings a pile of fixes and balance changes.
The update announcement on Steam was relayed earlier today, reminding players of the promises 11 bit studios made earlier this month when they presented us with their . The first out of five updates has landed, bringing the Survivor mode with it, if someone is feeling up to the challenge.
Survivor will not only bump up the difficulty of the game, but it will also embrace more of the hardcore features found in other games. For example, players will no longer be able to save the game except when the game itself autosaves and saving on exit, so this is basically the addition of the ironman mode.
The pause feature is also a goner, except when players open an in-game menu so they will now have to explain to their moms that single-player offline games can no longer be paused either. Citizens will also be more needy so meeting their demands and balancing the city's economy will be even harder now.
Not everything is bleak in the freezing, child-labour-trending dystopia of Frostpunk though, as those worthy few who manage to beat the game in this new mode will be treated to new achievements. Now we will have virtual badges to showcase our masochism. I call that a win.
Anyway, in order to willingly embark on this torture, players will have a new option in the main menu. They can now select a scenario and flip the switch for the Survivor mode.

There is also a plethora of fixes and balance changes that can be checked out on the official .
