Xbox's new IP Everwild, which is being developed by Sea of Thieves studio Rare, is having a lot of development issues, suggests industry insider Jeff Grubb.
Everwild is one of those new Xbox exclusives that we know nothing about. Revealed back in 2019 with a CGI trailer, Everwild looked spectacular with a stunning art style and interesting concept. In addition to that, thanks to a comment from Louise O'Connor, Executive Producer on Everwild , we learned that the game is about exploring the world and discovering new things.
Since the reveal, we only got another CGI trailer and that's about it. Earlier this year, reports suggested that the game has been rebooted and won't be coming before 2024 and the most recent claims from industry insider Jeff Grubb certainly won't fill Rare fans with confidence.
In the most recent episode of the XboxEra podcast with Nick Baker aka Shpeshal Nick, Grubb suggested that the game's development is a "mess". "They've [Rare] rebooted it and they don't know what the state of it really is in terms of what they expect it to be. They are still figuring that out, it's a mess," Grubb said.
Nick added that he heard previously that Rare changed the direction of the game. Apparently, Everwild is not going to be the game that Rare initially envisioned. But as always with rumours and unconfirmed reports, you should most definitely take this with a grain of salt.
We're sure Rare will manage to pull it off and deliver an amazing experience with Everwild, just like they did with Sea of Thieves.
