It seems that Fortnite Battle Royale isn't the only piece of the Fortnite puzzle that's heading for big changes in v8.0 as Epic revealed that some big Hero System changes are en route to Fortnite: Save the World with the upcoming update.

Whereas the current Fortnite: Save the World system uses three slots for Hero, Support and Tactical, the new hero loadout has seven - one for Commander, five for Support Team and one Team Perk.

Epic have done away with the current system that focuses on sets of static perks for Heroes. "Instead, they're focused on a specific perk and you can mix-and-match perks to best fit your playstyle", they wrote.

Fortnite: Save the World players now play as the Commander, a hero that determines what abilities, Class Perks and Commander Perk you've got. Note that unlocking Commander Perks requires evolving the hero to 2 stars "and it's a serious upgrade to the standard perk."

Arguably the most important part of your loadout is the Support Team, as each hero slotted in there grants players their Standard Perk, as well as 8 per cent of their stats.

At the same time, it seems like this feature has the most potential for creative tinkering, as Fortnite: Save the World players can tailor their builds to their specific playstyles.

The aforementioned Class Perks now define the classes better and "establish the core of each hero class without putting unnecessary restrictions on your gameplay choices", such as making B.A.S.E. a Constructor Class Perk rather than ability.

Team Perks will play a huge role in Fortnite: Save the World but you should know you can only select them from the pool of already unlocked ones.

Fortnite: Save the World's Mythic Heroes will grant new Team Perks when they're acquired and Epic are already teasing future means of unlocking these perks, such as having to complete actual challenges and so on.

As you'd expect, this means that Fortnite: Save the World v8.0 will bring multiple loadouts, allowing for easy saving and switching, as well as unlocking additional ones via the Stand and Fight campaign.
