eFootball 2022 is launching September 22, Konami announce

Konami's football simulation PES, which got rebranded this year to simply eFootball is officially launching on September 22, 2021, the publisher announced.

Konami have today revealed the release date for their football simulation eFootball 2022. The game is launching on September 22, 2021, for PC and consoles. As you may know, the game will be free-to-play but won't have everything that you may expect from a "PES game". Konami made a breakdown of some of the biggest features that will be in the game on launch and some other, that are planned for post-launch content. Check it out below.

eFootball's first major free update will go live this Autumn with the following features:

  • Creative Teams - select your base team from over 600 licensed clubs 
  • New match modes - 
  • New player types - all the way from Standard to Legendary

As for future updates, Konami plan to introduce the following:

  • Edit Mode 
  • PlayStation 5 haptic feedback adaptive trigger support 
  • Advanced ball trapping 
  • Power Pass, Power Shot and other special kicks 
  • Mobile controller support 
  • Full cross-platform matchmaking (PC, console and mobile)

Seitaro Kimura, eFootball series Producer also sent a special message to players:

"with eFootball being the name of our overall platform, eFootball 2022 is the official title for our first season of content. Platform updates bringing new functionality, such as cross-platform matchmaking and mobile controller support, will happen frequently over the coming months and will always be free.

Future content updates and game modes will be offered to players as either free or premium options. We look forward to getting players on the pitch and receiving their feedback."
