In the most recent blog post, EA and DICE have shared additional details about their upcoming shooter Battlefield 2042. We learned more about specialists, loadouts, vehicles and maps. The team also confirmed that the game would feature optional cross-play across all platforms.
Another interesting bit of info that we've found out is regarding the naval vehicles and sea warfare in Battlefield 2042. Hardcore fans know that naval warfare is a huge part of the Battlefield franchise, which always had specifically crafted maps to emphasise this type of gameplay.
However, it seems that Battlefield 2042 won't have such maps and vehicles on launch. EA and DICE say that the game "will have naval oriented vehicles such as the LCAA Hovercraft but there isn’t a focus on naval specific warfare right now."
It's possible that a DLC with such vehicles and maps arrive in the future, though. "We’ve seen your comments about how excited you are about naval warfare, so stay in touch with us about what you’d like to see in the future," EA and Dice wrote in the post.
Since Battlefield 2042 will be a live-service title, EA and DICE probably have plans for naval-themed DLC sometime after the launch, which is coming October 22, 2021.
Battlefield 2042 will be releasing on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
