EA is gearing up for the grand release of their new Battlefield title, Battlefield 6. The game comes out on October 10, 2025, across all platforms. After a mediocre life cycle of Battlefield 2042, players are excited to get their hands on the new large-scale shooter title.
Meanwhile, Treyarch has announced that they will let players enjoy Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 in its entirety during Battlefield 6's launch week. This surprising announcement comes in after they have already extended the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta by a day.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Goes Free on Battlefield 6 Launch Week
As Treyarch gears up for the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 6, which is the final season for the game ahead of the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in November. The new season is slated for release on October 9, 2025, as soon as the beta concludes.
At the same time, Battlefield 6 is coming out on October 10, 2025, across all platforms worldwide. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 6 comes out a day before the release date of the new Battlefield; the free trial also starts on the same day.
The free trial week will be available from October 9 through October 16 across all platforms. The Trial, for the first time ever, includes full access to play the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Campaign, too, alongside Multiplayer and Zombies.
It's not a matter of coincidence that Treyarch has scheduled the free trial week following Battlefield 6's release. The numbers Battlefield 6 managed to capture during the beta weekends were a warning call for Activision and Treyarch.
While game sales don't indicate a race between these two titles, the concurrent player count on all platforms during the beta week signalled a major shift in dynamic for both games.
All in all, Treyarch and Activision would surely want players to stick to Call of Duty even while Battlefield 6 manages to become a successful title. Unarguably, 2025 might be the best year for shooter fans, as the tight-knit competition between these two giants will lead to a win for the community no matter what happens.
