Dying Light: The Beast’s length has officially been confirmed by Techland and there is a lot of content for fans of the franchise. Franchise director Tymon Smektala has revealed that the main story campaign will last around 20 hours.
There are also around 20 to 30 hours of side content included in the game, rounding out a full 50 hours for completionists.
Speaking to GamesRadar, Smektala also said: “We are very competitive compared to basically anything that’s there on the market,” saying that the game is meant to “feel like a full AAA experience” even though it “started with smaller ambitions.”
The Dying Light prequel is not called Dying Light 3, but it is being considered as the new mainline entry in the franchise.
Fans of the series will be happy to know that The Beast will return player-character Kyle Crane, who returns from the game’s prequel and is running from his 10 year imprisonment in a lethal new area called Castor Woods.
The game will have the same mixture of frenetic combat, traversal, and day-night cycle. Crane has also been given infected-like powers but must still remain at night to avoid death. These systems will be used to push the franchise’s survival horror and exploration mechanics forward.
