Codemasters have rolled a features trailer for their upcoming rally racer Dirt 5, showing off new cars, locations and modes coming once the game launches on October 9.
Additionally, Codemasters confirmed that buying Dirt 4 for PlayStation 4 entitles you to a free upgrade to a PlayStation 5 version, should you choose to hop aboard the next-gen train. The upgrade from Xbox One to Xbox Series X is on the table too, and has been confirmed earlier.
Dirt 5 boasts 10 locations built from scratch purely for high-octane racing, and the trailer looks at three of them specifically - Morocco, Brazil and Arizona. Morocco is about rocky and dusty roads across barren open lands; Brazil takes you through lush forest and tight favela routes, while Arizona relies on iconic buttes, turn canyons and crevasses.
The remaining locations are Nepal, Roosevelt Island, Norway, China, Greece, Italy and South Africa. Throw in the extreme weather, with blizzards, sandstorms and lightning strikes, and Dirt 5 promises to be one hectic affair.
Codemasters made sure to offer plenty of variety in Dirt 5, whether it's vehicle classes, cars, races or race types. They've already done a crash course on the 13 vehicle classes featured in the game, which we cordially recommend checking out, as they've covered everything from light speedsters to monster trucks.
Dirt 5 features classic races, new events as well as some returning favourites. Some of them are in the feature trailer, like Ultra Cross and Landrush, but there are ample other events like overcoming boulders or hill climbs.
At the end of the trailer is Gymkhana!, which Codemasters highlighted as a Dirt staple. We're talking about no-holds-barred jumping, drifting, doughnuts and whatever other tricks you can muster in a large arena.
