Codemasters' racing game Dirt 5 will be free for PlayStation 5 players who previously purchased the game on PlayStation 4, the publisher confirmed in the latest video.
Codemasters recently announced Dirt 5, their first next-gen game in the popular rally racing series. During the Inside Xbox show, the publisher also revealed that Dirt 5 will support several Xbox Series X features including Smart Delivery, which basically means you will get a free version of the game on Xbox Series X if you purchase the game on current-gen console Xbox One.
At that time, Codemasters did not talk much about PlayStation 5 due to their partnership with Microsoft but fortunately, today we have a confirmation that Dirt 5 will also support a free upgrade option on PlayStation 5.
The option is basically the same as Smart Delivery. It means that a you get a PlayStation 5 version of the game if you buy Dirt 5 on PlayStation 4.
"DIRT 5 supports a FREE upgrade option for PlayStation players - so grab DIRT 5 on PS4 and get the next-gen optimised version on PS5, free of charge," Codemasters confirmed.
Dirt 5 is officially launching on October 5, 2020, for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game will also be coming to Google Stadia sometime in 2021.
