Arkane Studios have officially confirmed that Deathloop will not release this year as previously planned. The game has been delayed to Q2 2021 in order to bring the true next-gen appearance.
Deathloop, PlayStation 5 timed exclusive, developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda, has been delayed to Q2 2021, the developer officially announced via their Twitter. The game was originally scheduled to release in December 2020 but that won't be happening due to multiple reasons.
"Our ambition for Deathloop is to deliver a signature Arkane game that takes you to never-before-seen places in a stylish world," the devs wrote in the announcement. "At the same time, the health and safety of everyone at Arkane Lyon remain our top priority."
Arkane Studios say that the work on the game has been slower than usual since most of the team had to adjust to working from home. This extra year of development will allow the team to achieve all their goals and bring the best possible game to those who can't wait to get their hands on Deathloop.
All in all, with this delay, the next-gen lineup looks even more barren and we wonder how will this affect the launch of Sony's new consoles. Hopefully, this will be the last delay of PlayStation 5 games which are scheduled to release this holiday.
Deathloop should also arrive to Xbox Series X sometime after the launch on PlayStation 5.
