Control Resonant is currently in alpha development, with Remedy aiming for 60 FPS on all platforms and upgrading the Northlight Engine for larger battles and improved draw distances.

Control Resonant is one of the most anticipated upcoming games from Remedy Entertainment. Expanding upon everything we’ve seen in Control, the sequel promises to be bigger in scale while continuing to push Remedy’s tech forward.

We’ve learned from recent previews that the game is only in alpha right now which means systems and design are likely being polished. There currently isn’t a word on a set release window, but we’re expecting Control Resonant to release later this year on current-gen platforms.

The developer has confirmed improvements to the Northlight Engine. Remedy wants to focus on smoother performance and bigger, more frantic fights.

Control Resonant Currently in Alpha Development

Remedy states Control Resonant is currently Alpha stage which means that systems needed for the game are complete but there’s still work towards refining everything.

From what has been said the plot centers around Dylan Faden who is trying to stay alive in a paranaturally altered Manhattan. There is a chance it could involve searching for his sister Jesse Faden who was the lead in Control.

Northlight Engine Upgrades for Larger Battles

Remedy upgraded their Northlight Engine used for games such as Alan Wake 2. Reported upgrades include allowing for greater draw distances and more enemies on screen.

Greater draw distances and more enemies should allow for more chaotic paranormal battles than their previous titles. Along with bettering combat they say the engine allows for large open-ended environments without compromising graphical quality.

Targeting 60 FPS on All Platforms

Control Resonant wants to run at 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Odds are it’ll need heavy optimization to reach stable frame rates on consoles due to Remedy usually having very graphic intense titles.

Because of this analysts believe there will be multiple graphics modes. Games like Alan Wake 2 allowed players to choose between performance or graphics focused modes. Expect something similar here.
