Remedy Entertainment have unveiled Control Resonant, the sequel to critically acclaimed Control, shifting focus from Jesse Faden to her brother Dylan who fights hordes of otherworldly creatures in the warped Manhattan. Control Resonant is set to launch in 2026 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Mac.
Dylan Faden takes centre stage
Control Resonant follows Dylan Faden after years imprisoned by the Federal Bureau of Control. Deployed during a supernatural crisis threatening Manhattan, Dylan battles a mysterious cosmic entity reshaping reality whilst searching for his sister Jesse, the FBC Director. Remedy say players don't need to play the first game to understand the sequel since they've designed it as an accessible entry point whilst rewarding returning fans with continuity.
The protagonist switch marks significant departure from the original's focus on Jesse, whose story concluded satisfyingly in Control and its expansions. Whether her brother has the same charisma and proves to be a great protagonist, well, guess we'll see when the game is out.
Ditching guns for melee
Judging by what we've seen in the trailer, Control Resonant abandons the Service Weapon's shapeshifting firearms for melee weapons emphasising close-quarters hack-and-slash combat. The trailer showcases spectacular boss fights with laser attacks, aerial melee sequences, and combat reminiscent of Souls-like epic encounters.
"We're pushing the scale beyond anything we've done before, elevating combat, exploration, and storytelling into a bigger, more memorable experience," Remedy say.
Remedy's visual spectacle
Visually, Control Resonant delivers expected Remedy Entertainment spectacle with reality-warping architecture, stunning lighting effects, and cinematic presentation elevating supernatural action. The trailer showcases urban environments, ethereal otherworldly spaces, and intense combat encounters with visual flair matching Remedy's pedigree. Check out a couple of more screenshot below:
