Remedy Entertainment has released the long-awaited Control Ultimate Edition update 1.30 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Previously available on PC, this free update brings a mix of new content, technical improvements, and performance upgrades for consoles.
New Outfits and Mission Content
Players can now equip three previously exclusive outfits directly from the Central Executive Sector’s Control Point. These include the Astral Dive Suit, Tactical Response Gear, and Urban Response Gear, which were once locked behind pre-order bonuses.
The update also introduces Dr. Yoshimi Tokui’s Guided Imagery Experience, a mission that was previously exclusive to the PlayStation 4 Digital Deluxe edition. Featuring voiceover by legendary game creator Hideo Kojima, this mission is accessible once players collect the Dr. Tokui Tapes in the Research Sector’s Extrasensory Lab.
Graphics Upgrades on PlayStation 5
The PS5 version now includes an “Unlock Frame Rate” setting, support for VRR and 120Hz output, as well as HDR improvements. Visual fidelity has been enhanced with upgraded Temporal Anti-Aliasing (TAA), 10-bit SDR support, and better color depth to reduce banding.
Owners of the PlayStation 5 Pro receive additional upgrades, including PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) which should result in a smoother edges, improved hair, and vegetation visual quality. On PS5 Pro, players can also look forward to improved screen space reflections in performance mode and updated texture and shadow resolution filtering (anisotropic).
Graphics Upgrades on Xbox Series X|S
Xbox players also gain access to an “Unlock Frame Rate” option, VRR and 120Hz support, and significant improvements to TAA and HDR visuals. Both the Series X and Series S now feature lifted frame rate caps in Performance and Quality modes, delivering a smoother gameplay experience across the board.
General Fixes
On both consoles, grenade projectile indicators have been corrected to update at the proper frame rate, while the sorting of character and weapon mods has been streamlined for better usability.
This update represents a substantial upgrade for console players, ensuring that Control Ultimate Edition feels just as polished and visually striking on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as it does on PC.
