The retail chain IKEA is opening its new store, but unlike previous branches, this one will be available exclusively in virtual form. Namely, the new IKEA store will be available in the game/gaming platform called Roblox.
At first glance, this is not an unprecedented thing - before, various brands opened their experiences in a virtual environment. LEGO, for example, has a whole series of games as part of Fortnite.
What is somewhat new about Ikea in Roblox is that the virtual store will have its own workers. And those workers will get paid to appear in Roblox.
They will work in shifts, and IKEA is employing 10 workers who will be paid €14.80 an hour - the same as all other IKEA workers in England. However, they stated that they will only employ adults from Great Britain and Ireland.
In case you are wondering why IKEA is opening a virtual store in Roblox, the reason is in the statistics that say that Roblox is launched by more than 70 million users daily.
The Co-Worker Game
In "The Co-Worker Game," you'll step into the shoes of an IKEA employee, exploring a virtual IKEA store and maybe even helping customers (virtually, of course) design their dream homes.
It's like playing house for grown-ups, but way cooler because you might actually earn some cash while you're at it! There are only a limited number of these paid positions available, so if you're interested, don't wait! Applications are open right now and close on June 16th.
Some create games on that platform, some play what others create. In any case, Roblox is a good promotion opportunity for many brands. If anything, they don't need a land license to operate in Roblox.
What's more, they don't even have to adhere to the actual legal framework, which is why Roblox is an oasis for many casinos, but also the subject of lawsuits based on which the owners of the platform will have to answer in court.
